Welcome Home Abby!

As we reported several months ago, Abby Spare ('Iggy Piggy' in The Three Pigs) is out on the road with the National Tour of Annie! Well this month that tour will be returning to our local area! From March 25th through March 30th, Abby will be performing the orphan role of 'Tessie' at the Wang Center in Boston, MA! If you're interested in learning more about the show (or in purchasing tickets), click here! For more about Abby Spare, check out her very own website! This tour continues through May of 2008.

Joining the Kaleido-Family!

Over the course of the year, many new talented individuals join the Kaleidoscope Theatre Family. Recently, a brand new cast of teens learned our award-winning production of B.U.L.L.Y. (Better Understanding by Listening or Learning about You). This school-touring show has been tremendously successful in teaching children how to deal with the bullying situations they encounter at school.

This is what one new cast member had to say about the experience of becoming a part of Kaleidoscope Theatre. Her name is Aurora and she played the roles of 'Lori' and 'Glinda the Good Witch' in her first show of B.U.L.L.Y. on Friday, February 15, 2008!

"Kaleidoscope Theatre was a really fun experience. I met some pretty awesome people. As soon as we met, we clicked. I always looked forward to rehearsals because I knew we'd have fun. The songs were my favorite part because they were upbeat. When we performed at the schools, I'll admit I was super nervous. But when we started, it seemed to flow. We all helped each other if we messed up a line or forgot a lyric. I'll always remember how much fun it was and I hope to work with Kaleidoscope again in the future!"

The Party of the Year!

Mark your calendars for Kaleidoscope's 30th Anniversary Fundraiser!

The Party of the Year will be held at the Roger Williams Park Casino on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6pm to 10pm! This is a black tie optional gala and tickets are $100 per person. Invitations will be mailed out in May.

Our evening begins with an hour of hors d'oeuvres, followed by a wonderful buffet dinner provided by Carrabba's Italian Grill, followed by Kaleidoscope entertainment, and an auction of some great items! All proceeds from the evening benefit Kaleidoscope Theatre, including development of new shows and providing support to bring "B.U.L.L.Y." to schools that cannot afford to fund it. Make sure to save the date so you don't miss out on a night of wonderful entertainment! Congratulations, Cameron!

Cameron Marcotte, Kaleidoscope's Artistic Intern, was selected by the MET to receive funding for his entrepreneurial ventures! The four finalists were recently announced in the Projo (click here to read the article). Cameron was awared $600 to start up a non-profit theatre group called the High Frequency Theater Company! Look out for High Frequency's first production in June of 2008! For more information about Cameron's company, check out their website!

On Sunday, December 30th, listen to your radio for Phil Marlowe’s “Up Front” program on WCTK 98.1 FM to hear him do an interview on Kaleidoscope Theatre featuring our very own Executive Director, David Payton, along with Holly Shadoian, the chair of our 30th Anniversary celebration. It’s on kind of early – 7:30am – 8am on 98.1FM – or you can catch it at 8:30am on WLKW AM station!

This Weekend: Cinderella's Christmas

What happens when you cross the most wonderful time of the year with the most wonderful fairytale of all time?

You have the Kaleidoscope Theatre musical production, Cinderella’s Christmas, which will be performed on Saturday, December 22nd at The Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket, RI. Showtime is 2:00 pm and admission is $10.00/person. For tickets and further information, please contact the Stadium Box Office at (401) 762-4545.

A second performance will be on Sunday, December 23rd at the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, CT. Showtime is at 1:00pm and tickets can be purchased by calling (203) 269-8721.

This musical adaptation of the famous fairytale is loaded with beautiful songs, gorgeous costumes, exciting magic, lots of audience participation, and a Christmas twist that makes this production tons of fun for everyone!

This weekend at Homestead Gardens!

Come explore Homestead's Winter Wonderland!

Starting Friday, November 23rd, Homestead Gardens, in
North Smithfield RI, will be transformed into a Christmas
Wonderland. Come explore the beautifully decorated grounds
and purchase handcrafted gifts at the General Store. The
Homestead Barn will be home to Santa, Mrs. Claus, and
Santa’s toy workshop.

For only $5, children (adults are free) can tour the workshop, meet Santa, make a holiday ornament, and even have cider and cookies with Mrs. Claus!

Santa's Wonderland will be open every Friday (5-8pm), Saturday (4-8pm) and Sunday (2-6pm) from November 23rd through December 23rd!

Halloween Extravaganza @ THG

This Sunday (October 21st) at Homestead Gardens, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm - kids of all ages can participate in a Halloween costume contest, parade, and interactive games! Homestead Gardens also offers a picturesque fall setting and a country craft store, so stop by and enjoy the gardens!

OPEN AUDITIONS!

On Saturday, November 3, 2007 Kaleidoscope Theatre is holding open auditions! They will be held from 1:00pm-6:30pm at the Meshanticut Park Church (180 Oaklawn Ave.) in Cranston, RI.

Actors of all types are encouraged to audition for our Winter/Spring 2008 tours. We are in specific need of male teenagers for our school-touring program. All shows are musical, and all roles are paid. Come prepared to sing a cappella or to taped accompaniment, and to read from a script. CALL FOR APPOINTMENT!

This Sunday!

On October 14th, Kaleidoscope will be performing Cinderella at Westborough High School in Westborough,MA. The show is at 2:00pm and is open to the public! Tickets are now on sale for $8.00 and can be purchased by calling Jackie Semalis at (508) 756-6519.

This performance is being used as a fundraiser to support Westborough Special Education, please come and show your support for a worthy cause!
